Historic Hotel Grand Marais Vacation Rental
“Rustic Luxury in Paradise”
Grand Marais, Michigan
Poet, novelist, screenwriter and rugged-individualist Jim Harrison never slept here, as far as we know, but he did drink just a short block away at the Lake Superior Brewing Company (Dunes Saloon).
Location, location, location! Just park your car and walk to everything!
Google Map & Photos: Go to Google Maps and search 'Grand Marais Michigan Campbell Street' and you can do a virtual street level tour. You will be amazed!
Welcome to the new and improved Historic Hotel Grand Marais, located in the oldest commercial building in town, just two blocks west of the white sand beaches of Grand Marais Harbor, two blocks south of the agate beaches of Lake Superior and one block from the heart of downtown. Combining natural beauty, history, fine art and local color, this is a great starting point for exploring Grand Marais and the Upper Peninsula.
The rental features a kitchen, living room, private bath and sleeps up to four. The renovated historic 1883 building was originally Hotel Grand Marais and a lumber company office. As a tribute to the old growth White Pine forests, which once blanketed the region, wooden exposed walls in the bedrooms show massive boards. The kitchen/living room features a piano bar, where you can sip cool drinks and share conversation as meals are prepared.
The Suite evokes a feeling of yesteryear, simpler times and features a collection of antique brewery advertising, framed Jim Harrison quotes and two of the original pillars of Historic Hotel Grand Marais.
Owned and operated Belgian beer tour producer Stu Stuart (Belgian Beer Me! Tours).
Featuring Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, TV and a large video collection for those rainy days.
Only a three-night minimum rental and not a weekly minimum. Weekly rentals are typically Saturday-to-Saturday. You don't have to stay the entire time, but you would need to book it and pay for it. People sometimes book three nights and stay only two because it's still a great deal. Make your reservation today!

Great Place to Stay
Stu and Pam are great hosts - very friendly, and the rooms were very clean and spacious. As for location, you're less than a block from downtown, and another block and your at the beach.
Favorite Vacation Rental Ever!
The apartment in this historic building is so comfortable and cozy, we stayed an extra night and did not want to leave. The bones of the building are beautiful; it's lovely to live with such high ceilings for several days. All amenities were great - softest towels, comfy living room seating, great queen bed. The apartment overall is not huge but everything has a place and works well, and it was really the perfect arrangement of space for a family of four. You can't beat the location or the ease of working with Stu and Pam. Just magical. We hope to return!
We loved our three nights in the Historic Hotel Grand Marais. The rental is very clean and cozy with cute and thoughtful decor. We loved all the special touches throughout. It was the perfect setting for our UP adventure and a great location for Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls and the Shipwreck Museum. The town is charming with many quirky and interesting little museums. The beach is beautiful, great for collecting beach stones and within walking distance.
We have just spent 3 wonderful days at the HHGM. The whole place has a warm and friendly atmosphere- very clean and comfortable. The little extras... bottle of wine on our arrival, little bouquet of flowers, and the quotes of Jim Harrison (a personal favorite!) around the house made it even more special. Thanks so much Stu and Pam.... you were great hosts!! We will definitely come back. Janet, Andre and Markus - Switzerland and Bellaire Mi
Stu's place in the historic Grand Marais hotel is amazing. Exactly as the description reads. Within a block of the marina (great for watching sunrises!) and downtown. The age and charm of the space created a warm and inviting feel throughout our stay. Great central location for those wishing to enjoy Munising and Whitefish Point. It is a small town so if you have certain foods, etc bring them long, or you will be searching through aisles of the local gas stationood mart looking for your choices! We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back and visit. Stu is a wonderful host! Stu is a rockstar!
Very clean and convenient location. We went to the beach for sunsets and took many day trips to surrounding locations. Centrally located, yet still with that small town ambiance. Made trips to Soo Locks, Machinaw, and Picture Locks tour out of Munising. Stu was wonderful to work with and made a special visit to see that we were situated.
Very quaint and clean rental in a perfect location. We were able to walk to the deserted beach for perfect sunsets and sit at the harbor when the wind came up. Stu was very easy to work with and didn't add all the red tape and fees you usually get with other rentals. This is the perfect place to stay to explore Pictured Rocks National Park and you can walk to Sable Falls along the beach. Very unique weekend...thanks Stu.
We will be returning this summer for our 5th time. It's the perfect "base camp" for a vacation in Grand Marais. In just a few minutes you can walk to either beach, the grocery store, and several restaurants. The kitchen is nice and well-stocked with utensils etc., living room is cozy, beds are comfortable, large modern bathroom. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is just a few minutes away, and day trips to Munising, Seney and other places are easy. It's a comfortable home-away-from home. A good place to hang when the weather won't let you get outside, and wonderful to come back to after a day spent hiking, swimming or exploring.
I just wanted to tell you the Historic Hotel Grand Marais is a wonderful rental. We had a great visit. We loved the location and the accommodations. It was VERY CLEAN! We hope to rent from you again next year.
